One of a three-part work, Arena Industriale was commissioned for Storie Urbane, Reggio Emilia, Italy that focuses on actions and environments connected to the transient living and working conditions of different groups of workers. Villagio is a series of photographs, shot on a hand held camera, of buildings comprising a temporary village constructed for workers on the state TAV railway network, located in the industrial zone outside Reggio Emilia. The photographs depict the generic spaces that comprise the gated village focusing on spatial paradigms associated with conditions of life in a controlled institutionalised environment. The extremely limited access to the site defined the conceptual and material parameters of the work, suggesting the strictures of the environment.
