House consists of six transparent boxes containing tapes of various shape and size displayed on a metal shelf. The work was developed following a site visit to Grünanger an ecological housing development for lower income occupants, built in 2006 by architect Hubert Rieß in Graz Liebenau in Graz, Austria. Tallentire’s interest in social housing and more specifically how we occupy and inhabit the built environment is clear in how she deals sculpturally and through material drawings with ideas of scale and embodiment. Each transparent box contains a selection of tape, the measurements of which correspond to the dimensions of different rooms of Grünanger: bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living room. In this way the boxes contain both material information and the performative capacity to re-enact a scale drawing of the spaces they portray.
